HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP: Announce this historic event to your audiences.

The Co-Chairs for this special international event are Dr. Robert Muller, former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chancellor Emeritus of the University For Peace in Costa Rica.  As well as Avon Mattison, Founder and President of Pathways To Peace and Co-Coordinator of the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI) Annual Report to the UN Secretary-General which documents the PEACE DAY events around the world since 1984.

The 24-Hour Internet Broadcast of PEACE DAY will highlight the vitally important work of the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies and the organization’s public administration. The Broadcast will feature Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s Message for the UN International Day of Peace; as well as interviews with present and former high level UN officials including Sergio Duarte, UN Under Secretary-General for Disarmament, Salil Shetty, Director of the Millennium Campaign, and Mary Robinson, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former President of Ireland. There will also be a video presentation on the United Nations Public Service Awards and a series of the UN Department of Public Information’s “UN in Action” video presentations on the UN’s important work around the world.

Celebrity peace activists such as George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, Christie Brinkley, Michael Douglas, Charlize Theron, Annie Lennox, Sir Paul McCartney, Dr. Jane Goodall and many more will be featured in these broadcasts.

PEACE DAY will also feature the work of other organizations and individuals around the world dedicated to creating a more peaceful, just and sustainable world. To promote the positive, innovative and solution oriented work of these organizations and individuals for the purpose of inspiring and empowering the world’s peoples to take concerted action to create a better world for present and future generations. Our goal is to educate people globally about the most crucial issues facing humanity; to inspire them to collective action and solve these international problems.

Happy International Day of Peace, everyone! It is never too late, we will change the face of Africa someday. Conflict sure is inevitable BUT we can transform violent manifestations....this is where it starts.
