"I am discovering opportunities to learn more. The team is highly qualified and progressive individuals with unique talents. Since volunteering here I have had opportunities to learn photography, filmmaking, event-planning, workshop-designing and Thai language. I also continue to study and practice meditation from teachings monks at the Dhammakaya temple. I can honestly say volunteering for Peace Revolution is the most rewarding activity I have ever been involved in. I am so proud to be here."

Each volunteer will be asked to enter into a written agreement with Peace Revolution including expected hours of work, agreed behavior, duties and responsibilities of the volunteer and of Peace Revolution. Regular reviews and performance management meetings will be conducted each week of the volunteer program with the program supervisor.

  • Any additional travel not directly related to the volunteering activities, for example travelling around Thailand for sightseeing or visiting neighboring countries. Peace Revolution will also provide some opportunity for sightseeing.

Important Information

Appropriate clothing

There are dress requirements for attending Buddhist activities and for working. It is a requirement of the volunteer program that volunteers agree to be appropriately dressed.

These clothes should be loose, simple and comfortable, preferably in white or light colours with sleeves to the elbow or longer. Sleeveless shirts and shorts, see-through, or revealing clothing should not be worn to work.

During important ceremonies and spiritual event we recommend you wear formal white attire. Most Thai Buddhist people attending Sunday meditation will normally dress in formal white attire. The formal white attire can be purchased near the Peace Revolution office.

Benefits of being a volunteer at Peace Revolution

There are many benefits of volunteering at Peace Revolution. These include:

  • We are a cross-cultural, inter-faith organization that provides the opportunity to interact with people from different cultures and faith backgrounds.
  • We treat our volunteers like regular staff members – this ensures that volunteers will be included in staff meetings and discussions, allowing them to see how Peace Revolution functions as an organization.
  • Understanding the workings of a not-for profit, non-government organization operating in an international setting.
  • This volunteer program shows prospective employers that you are interested in making a difference in your world through community development and peace initiatives.

"I spent four months volunteering with the Peace Revolution project. During this time I facilitated workshops for staff and Peace Rebels, developed teaching materials, and conducted research about inner peace. I learnt so much during this time: about inner peace and peace building, about Thailand, about Buddhism, and about myself. The experience has provided me with a whole new perspective, and a much deeper understanding of peace, which will inform and enhance my teaching, research, and personal life from now on."
