The World Peace Initative (WPI)

Our Mission

The World Peace Initiative aspires to achieve global peace by enabling people to attain inner peace. We further the inherent human capability to develop oneself in order to achieve lasting internal happiness. We promote the principle that people at peace with themselves will achieve peace with those around them. The transformation of our world starts with our own inner progress.

The WPI Approach

Encouraging Self-Development

The WPI is based on the principle that helping people help themselves is the only way they can attain inner peace. WPI provides the guidance, lights the way, and opens doors so that people may walk the path themselves. WPI’s self-development techniques are based on meditation, ethical behavior, and the cultivation of self-discipline. In the long-term, we aim to provide anyone across the globe who is motivated and able with the opportunity to receive appropriate guidance to initiate and sustain a self-development program. Those who reap the rewards of their self-development efforts will receive further guidance on introducing others to the path towards inner peace.

World Peace Initative Approach

Ensuring Universality

The principles of the WPI – particularly a commitment to peace and a dedication to ethical behavior – cross all social barriers. A person of any nationality, race, ethnicity, age, or religion can attain inner peace without violating their personal beliefs, religious convictions, or community norms. Moreover, the WPI complements other efforts to promote harmonious human relations and improve living conditions. Inner peace can be incorporated into any activity – peace education, youth mobilization, environmental conservation, humanitarian assistance, etc. – in a way that enhances the results of these endeavors. A key long-term goal of the WPI is to have active practitioners of WPI principles across all continents, major religions, ethnic groups, and ages.

Establishing a Worldwide Network

To widen and deepen support for the WPI’s goals and form closer ties between peace-loving peoples globally, WPI established and is expanding an international network of active and committed people engaged in self-development and other work for peace. The network will operate primarily online using a variety of communications technologies and distance learning methods. WPI provides opportunities for face-to-face interaction by conducting meetings and retreats, particularly for international youth. In the longer-term, WPI will enlarge the network to cover 208 countries and establish branch movements as appropriate.

Reinforcing Peace Endeavors

WPI will seek out and support creative and innovative ways worldwide to stimulate both inner peace and other types of peace projects. WPI will produce and/or provide tools for individuals and organizations to help them find better ways to introduce, teach, and promote peace. WPI will pursue partnerships with governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, and intergovernmental organizations such as the United Nations, both to enhance existing work for peace and to learn from others. Young people in developing countries are a particularly important target for both financial and in-kind support.
